North American Comparison of Absolute Gravimeters

The goal of this comparison is multi-fold: First, to test the capabilities of the newly refurbished Table Mountain Geophysical Observatory (TMGO) of the United States\' National Geodetic Survey (NGS). Second, to attempt to bring together for comparison every operational absolute gravimeter in North America. Finally, to strengthen contacts amongst the various organizations operating an absolute gravimeter on the continent. The protocol will be for each gravimeter to m(...)

SIRGAS 2010 General Meeting

The SIRGAS 2010 General Meeting will take place in Lima (Peru) between November 11 and 12, 2010. In the three days before (from November 8 to 10, 2010), we will have a second edition of the SIRGAS School on Reference Systems. These two events are supported by the IAG, the IUGG and the PAIGH (Pan-American Institute of Geography and History). For more information please visit the conference website at http://www.sirgas.(...)

IAG Commission 1 Symposium REFAG2010

Scope Reference systems and frames are of primary importance for many Earth science applications, satellite navigation as well as for practical applications in geo-information. A precisely defined reference frame is needed for the quantification of, e.g. Earth rotation and its gravity field, global and regional sea level variation, tectonic motion and deformation, post-glacial rebound, geocenter motion, large scale deformation due to Earthquakes, local subsidence and other(...)

15th General Assembly of WEGENER

The WEGENER project aims to bring together geoscientists interested in using geodetic techniques to measure and understand the 3D surface motion in Europe and the Mediterranean. The 15th Assembly of WEGENER will provide a forum for presentation, discussion, coordination and scientific support for geoscientists interested in unravelling the kinematics and mechanisms of the broad Eurasian/African/Arabian collision zone. Contributions on new aspects arising from the new sate(...)

Workshop on Monitoring North American Geoid Change

Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to announce that a *Workshop on Monitoring North American Geoid Change* is going to be held in Boulder, Colorado, USA from October 21 through 23, 2009. The goal of this workshop is to develop a collaborative plan to use common standards to monitor the geoid model over North America, through a combination of dedicated absolute gravity campaigns and reliance on continued satellite gravity missions. This monitoring is critical to various go(...)

Workshop: Changes of the Greenland Cryosphere

The CGC workshop is an interdisciplinary workshop on the current changes of the Greenland ice sheet, sea-ice and permafrost, and presents an opportunity for in-depth discussions of the observed changes as measured by satellite, airborne and in-situ networks (climate stations and GPS), the modelling of the changes, and future projections of change. Geodesy has a special role to play in the monitoring of the Greenland ice sheet, especially due to GRACE and geodynamic uplift stu(...)
